Free Mix Preview

Still not sure about trusting some guy you found in an Instagram ad to mix your song? Let me put that to rest. I will mix a section of your song for free.

I will take 30 to 45 minutes and do as much as I can with one section, then send it back so you can hear exactly what I would do with your track. No catch.

I can take on about five of these a week, so I might have to turn some down, but it never hurts to ask.

Who is mixing your song?

I am John Larson, a producer and engineer in Anchorage. I have spent years recording and mixing for artists across Alaska and beyond, released my own records, and built a room I trust to make honest decisions in. I mix across genres because every song asks for something different, and my job is to serve the song rather than stamp it with one sound.

"Great experience working with John! He knew exactly what my songs needed and helped me record my album in a month. He was super easy to work with and a great friend."

-Dawson Gentleman

"Very detailed in communication

with the groups making sure

everybody’s ok, building formulas,

sharing ideas all the good stuff.

The rest is magic!!!!"

-Buggy Taliva'a

"John is a chill professional. He was perfect for our reggae band. He tackled the full band, instrument by instrument, a single track at a time.

His pricing was fair and flexible for the style in which we could/wanted to record.

He had great suggestions and expertise on adding components for composition and emotional flow -crescendo/emphasis/effects/etc. - while at the same time fitting them to maintain and understand our unique sound, and helping our own desires/ideas come to life.

The mixing and mastering is also exquisite and just as we hoped it would sound."

-Jessie Meybin

How it works.

  1. Send me your track. Email your files or a rough mix and tell me what you are going for.

  2. I tell you how I would approach it. You get a clear sense of the direction and the cost before anything starts.

  3. I mix and master it. You get revisions until it is right.

  4. You get a finished master, ready to release.

Send me your song.

Send your stems or multitracks as a Google Drive link and tell me what you are going for. Make sure the link is set so anyone with the link can view, otherwise I cannot open it.
